“VALDEMEDEL” folkloric group , Badajoz, Spain

Scoil Rince Mobhí (St Mobhí Irish Dance School) is based in Dublin and Meath in The Province of Leinster, Ireland. Our School is named after Saint Mobhí, a Scholar and Saint from Glasnevin, the area in Dublin where our Dance School is based.Our classes are conducted in both Irish and English.

The children usually begin dancing at the age of four and continue to any age! They begin with "Light Dancing" – Reels and Slip Jigs, and progress to "Heavy Dancing" - Jigs and Hornpipes.(Similar to Tap dancing), but with a skill of dancing two different rhythms, jig rhythm and hornpipe rhythm.

Our group of twenty dancers range in age from 9 to 15. The Girls costume Designs are taken from The famous Book of Kells which is an illuminated Manuscript in Latin, containing The Four Gospels of the New Testament, transcribed by Monks around 800AD. The Collars are hand crocheted, copied from The Traditional Irish Carrickmacross Lace.

Some of the children have progressed to compete both at home and abroad at major events such as All Ireland, Great Britain and World Championships and have been successful in achieving medals in each of these Championships. They have won approximately 2,000 Medals and 175 trophies between them. Apart from competition, we have performed for Uachtarán na hÉireann (The President of Ireland), both in concert and in Áras An Uachtaráin (The President's residence) and for other prestigious dignitaries such as Foreign Ministers and Ambassadors. We have travelled to various Festivals representing Ireland in France, Sri Lanka, China, England, Scotland and Wales.

Indonesia

Group from Indonesia, country formed by more than 17 thousand islands, and that along the history has been influencing for different migratory movements giving place to a rich and varied culture.

The Indonesian dances can divide in three period, the prehistoric one, the Buddhist - hinduista and the islamist one and two kinds, the dances of court and the rituals.

This group comes under the supervision of the IOV, international organization dedicated to the conservation of all the forms of folklore art, so much tangibly as intangible.More concretely, comes supported by the Juvenile Section of the IOV of Indonesia, which has as aim give the necessary knowledge to the children in order that the culture and the traditions could develop adequately in this country.

"Tonalli Ambar" folkloric group, Mexico.

Mexico

The group Tonalli Ambar, devotes himself to the search and the diffusion of the popular Mexican art.

In his 23 years of existence it has taken part in different festivals all over the world.

In the year 2000 they were involved in a new important project, the creation of a young group. They teach the love to the popular traditions what is not easy, especially in the city of Mexico where the teenagers show much more interest to the commercial music that comes from the United States.

The group presents a spectacle of music and dance of several Mexican regions, with marimba, harps, revelries, traditional band (saxophones, trumpets, trombonists, clarinets) and some instruments indigenous to pre-Hispanic origin. The dances, are also presented with the traditional costumes.

Eraiki dantza taldea

It was around 1978, when a young group from Behobia (Irun-Gipuzkoa), founded Eraiki Dantza Taldea (www.eraikdt.com), which from the very beginning tried to maintain alive Basque Countries’ folklore. Nowadays, the group consists of 150 participants between 5 year old children and adults. The folklore that Eraiki Dantza Taldea represents is based on the 7 counties which culturally made the Basque Country. The group have always tried to keep the legacy our ancestors gave us as pure as possible, giving importance to the traditional clothing of each county and also to each of the instruments played at the moment. In 1997, Eraiki Dantza Taldea decided to organize the 1st International Young Folklore Festival from Bidasoa (www.festivalfolklorebidasoa.com), which the most important aim was to make all the different cultures around the world known, being folklore the most important tool.
